Liberty Arts teaches sculpture-based community classes and invites the public to view bronze pours at our Casting Facility in the George Watts Hill Pavilion in Durham Central Park on a regular basis.
Embrace this rare opportunity to join local artists in creating your own unique iron castings. Throughout the month of November, Liberty Arts will be offering classes to prepare sand molds for an Iron Pour held on Saturday, November 28 at the Moncure Mechanism of Art in Moncure, NC. Sand Mold Workshops will be held at Liberty Arts from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm on the following Open Studio dates:

Sculpture Class - Assemblage (Concepts and Construction)

Example of Jeff Bell‘s Sculpture
Learn concepts of using found materials and their implications. Students will devise and construct a sculpture using basic joining and building techniques while also cultivating their own ideas about assemblage. Some materials will be available and students are also encouraged to collect and bring their own. The class is for 4 weeks, 3 hour sessions meeting once a week on Saturday afternoons, with a 10 student limit. Jeff Bell, instructor.

Jeff Bell received a BA in Studio Art and one in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He moved to Durham and worked for eight years in the Registrar‘s Department at the Nasher Museum of Art. He received a MFA from North Carolina at Greensboro in 2008.
